Al-Ittihad continued their perfect start to the 2022-23 season with a comprehensive 7-1 victory over Al-Wehda in the Saudi Pro League on Monday.

Karim Benzema was the star of the show for the hosts, scoring a stunning hat-trick to take his tally for the season to five goals in three games.

The Frenchman opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a clinical finish from inside the box. He doubled his tally just before half-time with a powerful header from a corner.

Benzema completed his hat-trick in the 65th minute with another close-range finish. He was replaced by Haroune Camara shortly after, having played a key role in Al-Ittihad's dominant display.

Al-Wehda pulled a goal back through Marwane Saâdane in the 75th minute, but it was a mere consolation as Al-Ittihad ran out comfortable winners.

The victory keeps Al-Ittihad top of the Saudi Pro League table with nine points from three games. Al-Wehda, meanwhile, remain in the relegation zone with just one point from their opening three fixtures.

Al-Ittihad will be looking to continue their perfect start to the season when they travel to Al-Batin in their next league game on Saturday.

Al-Wehda's Struggles Continue

Al-Wehda have endured a difficult start to the 2022-23 season, losing two of their opening three games in the Saudi Pro League.

The visitors have scored just two goals in their three games, while conceding 10. They are currently bottom of the league table with just one point.

Al-Wehda will be looking to turn their season around when they host Al-Tai in their next league game on Saturday.
