What is the DV Program?
The Diversity Immigrant Visa (DV) Program awards up to 50,000 immigrant visas each year to individuals from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States. The program is designed to promote diversity and bring people from all over the world to the United States.
The DV Program is administered by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Consular Affairs. Most lottery winners reside outside the United States and are selected randomly each year.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the DV Program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
* Be a native of an eligible country. * Have at least a high school education or equivalent. * Have at least two years of work experience within the past five years in an occupation that requires at least two years of training. * Meet the passport requirements.How to Register for the DV Lottery
Entries for the DV Program must be submitted electronically at dvprogram.state.gov between 12:00 pm noon Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on October 4, 2023, and 12:00 pm noon EDT on November 7, 2023. No entries will be accepted after the deadline.
Applicants are encouraged to submit their entries as early as possible during the registration period, as there is no limit on the number of entries that can be submitted.
DV Lottery Results
Lottery winners will be selected randomly and notified through the Electronic Diversity Visa (E-DV) website on May 8, 2024. Winners will have until September 30, 2025, to apply for their immigrant visas.
Applicants who are not selected in the lottery can re-apply for the following year's lottery.
